Making his Aeolian debut, Freddy Almarza performs an incredible evening of covers from the world’s most prolific Spanish folk music and troubadours.  Accompanied by an eclectic band of musicians and special guest vocalists, Freddy’s concert features English subtitles for the audience in order to understand and enjoy the music and lyrics on a deeper level.  Trova, steeped in Latin and European traditions, features thoughtful songs of life, love and humanity, and often reflects the social and political circumstances of the times.

The set list, comprised of songs written and recorded by artists such as Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanés and Joan Manuel Serrat, also includes Canadian poets and song writers Leonard Cohen and Neil Young.

Originally from Venezuela, Freddy Almarza was the co-founder, composer, singer and producer of the popular Rock group, Xtensión.  The band released two CDs, Rock & Trova and 34410.  In addition to his work on the Xtensión albums, Freddy has also collaborated on recordings with, LAUD, as bassist and composer.

In recent years, Almarza has made London his home, playing his way through the local summer festival scene and participating in other community based events.  This is his first time headlining at the Aeolian and he is sure to captivate and entertain with this unique concert experience.
