The Aeolian Raise the Roof FundThe Aeolian is a beautiful heritage building in London's historic Old East Village, designed by the famous architect George F. Durrand, and built between September 1883 and June 1884. Over the years the building has had many uses, including the first branch of the London Public Library and the London East Town Hall. Now, The Aeolian houses a growing Music School and one of Canada's finest Music Halls. The Aeolian is a cornerstone in the revitalization of the Old East Village, and hosts a vibrant community of volunteers and patrons under its roof.
In the winter of 2010, a dripping ceiling called attention to the building’s deteriorating roof, and since then the roof has undergone dozens of evaluations. The final verdict: the building’s roof must be replaced by the early fall, to ensure the preservation of the building. The new roof is estimated to cost around $75 000, though a final decision has yet to be made.
Aeolian Hall Musical Arts Association, the registered charity which runs The Aeolian, is now seeking donations to help cover the cost of the pricey, but necessary, investment. Your contributions are greatly appreciated, and may be eligible for a tax receipt.
